Dan Bish

Dan Bish History Teacher

Teacher of Economics and History & Year 10 Form Tutor

I joined BISH in August 2011 as a History teacher and Extended Essay coordinator. I also teach another of my passions Economics at IB Diploma.

I graduated from the University of Lancaster with an Honours Degree in History before studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in History and Citizenship. I became interested in the international education field following my involvement in the Comenius Project that works to bring young people together from all over the European Community in order to develop internationalism and multi-cultural understanding. One of the wonderful things about BISH is the opportunity to experience this daily!

As a Historian, my specialism is in Modern World History. I believe that it is important to combine a very strong focus on the academic study of the past through making activities accessible with the use of interesting activities and technology.

As part of my wider school role I have responsibility for coordinating the Extended Essays of our Year 12 and 13 students. I am always so impressed by the creative and demanding titles of our students and their application to what is a significant piece of academic research. I have found this role very rewarding, a reminder that we are preparing our students for university and beyond.

Outside of school I enjoy football (Tottenham Hotspur), reading History and more broadly, Table Tennis and of course Rodeo!

What the students say about me

“There is in fact so little that Mr Bish does not know that I would happily have him teach me almost every subject.”
