I spent 5 years as Head of Department at the British International School in Vietnam, both professionally and personally this was a very rewarding experience. Highlights include coaching the first team from Vietnam to the F1 in Schools World Finals, where they won the Best Newcomers Trophy and accompanying Year 12 students on a 5 day trip swimming through the Tu Lan Caves. By coincidence I saw my current role advertised after seeing an article in a Nord Anglia Publication about the approaches to teaching and learning being developed at the British International School of Houston. I feel fortunate to have been appointed and I am inspired everyday by the students and colleagues that I work with.
Born in the Sixties, I have lived through many changes in fashion and culture including the excitement of my first punk rock concert and seeing Bob Dylan in 1978. Like many teenagers in the Seventies my love of Art and Design developed from buying vinyl records and the artwork contained within. Attending art school in the UK my interest and joy of painting grew, a passion that has never left me. I am incredibly proud of my two children, my daughter followed me into teaching and my son is an architect. My wife Sue works in Year 1 and it gives us both great pleasure to travel to different countries, soaking up the history and culture of the places we visit.
