I always knew that I was destined to be a teacher though, so I completed my P.G.C.E in 2007 before beginning my teaching career at Rosebery School for Girls in Surrey in 2007. Whilst there, I was appointed Deputy Head of House in 2009 and Second in Department for English in 2010. After 4 successful years in these posts, I accepted the position of an English teacher at the British International School of Houston prior to becoming the Leader of Learning for the department in 2012 and then taking on the responsibility of Exams' Officer in 2019. America was always a country that I had harboured a desire to work in and when I was informed of the calibre of the staff and students alike who I would be working with, my decision became an easy one.
As one might expect of an English and Film teacher, I am an avid fan of all literature and films. Living in the States has also enabled me to make contact with successful film institutions to further my own learning. However, I am also passionate about music, which is fantastic considering the variety of live music that comes to Houston. I enjoy watching live sport and making the most of keeping fit along the bayous and in the leafy neighbourhoods; I don't think you ever get used to the heat of Houston's summers though. Moving to such a big country like America has granted me many opportunities to travel to and explore the different states that exist here as well as travelling the incredibly large state of Texas. I have a lot more travelling to do, but am very lucky to have family in Austin, Florida, Colorado and further north in the Carolinas as well when planning my trips.
