Having attended school in Worcester, England, I went on to study International Business, Finance and Economics as my degree at The University of Manchester. On completion of this, I embarked on the Graduate Teacher Program, which I completed in 2012 and then remained at my training school for the next seven years. Over the duration of my time there, I had a wide range of opportunities available to me which have continued to develop my subject pedagogy and allowed me to experience several different roles including Leader of Creative Curriculum and STEAM club coordinator. After having been accredited as a Lead Learning Practitioner in 2016, I went on to lead the Math faculty at a leading inner-city comprehensive school within a Multi Academy Trust.
I had always aspired to work in the United States, so my husband and I moved to Boston MA, in 2019. I took on the role of Maths teacher at the Nord Anglia school in Boston, BISB, in addition to The Award USA (Duke of Edinburgh) lead and then in my second year IB Extended Essay coordinator. The Houston area has been a real draw for me with its ease of access to several beautiful trails both for walking and cycling, not to mention the weather after being in hibernation for 6 months a year whilst living in New England. I am extremely excited to be a part of what the British International School of Houston has to offer regarding the learning and teaching ethos that is fostered for the students, as well as the wider BISH family of staff and parents.
My husband and I have three english cocker spaniels who made the trip over the pond with us back in 2019; Layla, Milly and Coco. We love to be outdoors with them, so walking and hiking has become a real passion of ours and are very much looking forward to exploring the large variety of state parks Texas has to offer. I have been known to be an enthusiastic runner, completing three London Marathons for charity. Whilst I don't run the long distances any more I still enjoy putting my running shoes on and my headphones in, to explore new places.
