I started my career as a teacher of Drama and P.E and over the years I have taught a range of subjects at GCSE, A Level, BTEC and IB. For the last few years I have been a IB Theory of Knowledge teacher which I love teaching as it challenges my own thinking and has forced me to continue my own learning.
In the UK I was involved in teacher training and I trained teachers for the Royal Academy of Dance, Middlesex University and through various Initial Teacher Training programmes. I also had the privilege of working for the Department of Education through the Innovations Unit and the National College for School Leadership on Leadership projects in addition to being nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2005.
I enjoy working with students and teachers and supporting people of all ages in their learning. I have been fortunate to be asked to speak publically at many educational conferences, past events including, Leading Edge Schools Conference, 14-19 Diploma Conference, Exceptionality Conference, Staff Training Conferences and Local Authority training based around personalising learning, tracking students’ progress and using Drama skills across the curriculum. I have also been heavily involved in the Nord Anglia University leadership programmes and worked with four cohorts of middle leaders and aspiring senior leaders including sessions on 21st Education and Coaching and Mentoring.
My hobbies include: playing guitar and singing; playing football, running, swimming and being a long suffering fan of Nottingham Forest Football Club. I am married to Katherine and we have 2 children, Dylan and Erin. After six enjoyable years in Shanghai, we are delighted to remain in the Nord Anglia Education family and are looking forward to the next chapter of our lives in Houston.
