After graduating with a BSc in Sports Science from St Mary’s University in London, I started my PE teaching career at St Teresa’s School in Surrey where I was Director of Sporting Activities, Head of House and Boarding Mistress. After nearly four years there I took on a slightly different role when I moved to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, working for the National Sports Institute. There I taught English to professional athletes, as well as guiding them through their educational and career choices beyond their sporting lives. I currently reside in Thailand, where I will finish this academic year at Harrow International School Bangkok. Whilst in South-East Asia my husband and I have spent a lot of our free time travelling to as many new places as possible, such as Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
As a previous track and field and cross-country athlete I spent a year at Florida State University on a Sports Scholarship (Go Seminoles!) I can’t wait to come back to the States and switch my role from student-athlete to teacher-coach. I still love running and if my hip, knee and ankle (just to name a few) all hold up, you will see me going out for runs or hobbling along attempting to get some miles in the legs.
I love sport, being active and taking part in a variety of activities such as, rock-climbing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay-Thai, surfing and weight-training. Although most of which I am only a beginner and can’t claim to be an expert of any sort! I will be moving with my husband Ryan, who is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and is looking forward to experiencing the brilliant sporting culture in the USA.
I can’t wait to join the BISH team in the next academic year and look forward to meeting the students and faculty and being part of the school community.
