As an Aquatics Director, I have developed a comprehensive “Learn to Swim” aquatics curriculum which safely develops children’s swimming skills and techniques at an age appropriate progression from beginner to advanced, which she is excited to introduce to the BIS Houston student body.
In addition to my experience as a swim instructor, I am also an accomplished swim coach, coaching at every level. I have extensive experience coaching swimmers at the varsity level and many swimmers who have gone on to swim at the DI and DII level in the NCAA. I have experience coaching swim at the DIII NCAA level at St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, NY where I built and grew a successful swim program for the school.
On the volleyball court, I led my Girls Varsity Volleyball team to their first ever appearance at the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) tournament and won the Athletic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS) in back to back years (2017, 2018) and qualified for post-season play every season in the six years I coached in New York.
I have presented at the 2016 national SHAPE conference on the importance of supporting gender equality in athletics, created an all female health and wellness course, created a primary school LGBTQ+ affinity space for students, as well as created an activism course on gender equality in athletics for primary students. Additionally, I am a member of the inaugural Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group at BIS Houston.
I moved to Houston in December, 2020 after spending 10 years in New York City. I love being active and traveling during my free time. I enjoy running, riding bikes, paddle boarding and hiking. I am currently training for my first marathon, the New York City marathon in November. When I am not training, I am planning my next big adventure. I will be hiking Havasupai, a 4 day back country hiking trip in Arizona, next summer. During my time in Houston, I have enjoyed exploring new areas around the city and enjoying the diverse culinary scene! I always welcome new recommendations for food and travel!
