My passion for languages started from a very early age. The idea of being able to communicate with someone from a different culture in their own language, simply mesmerised me and still does to this day.
I pursued my love of languages at Glasgow University, where I completed my MA Honours in Hispanic studies with French. After having graduated, I decided to spend another year in Spain working for the Department of Trade and Industry at Expo 92 in Seville, as a Communications Officer. This was my second year living in Spain, having spent one year in Madrid, as a Foreign Language Assistant.
After a wonderful year in Seville. I returned to Scotland and completed my PGCSE at Strathclyde University. Since then, I have had the privilege of teaching in Scotland, England, Singapore and here in Houston and these positions have given me a good insight into International Curricula. The positions I held in England and in Singapore, in particular, gave me a wonderful understanding of how to teach and co-ordinate the delivery of IGCSE, MYP and Ab Initio French and Spanish.
I am passionate about the IB Curriculum, as it allows students to grow both academically and in so many other ways. Teaching and learning is taken to another level, when we incorporate the importance of being an inquirer, thinker, risk-taker, communicator and of being principled, open-minded caring, balanced and reflective.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and son. This is our fifth year living in America. So far we have visited New York, San Diego, Miami, Arizona and look forward to getting to know more of America. Our other travel destinations have included: Spain, France, Ireland, Ecuador, Peru, Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, Morocco, Czech Republic, Germany, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan (Osaka and Kyoto), Dubai and Sri Lanka. We love traveling!
I also enjoy running and did manage to complete the Singapore Marathon a few years ago. Hard work, with the Singapore humidity but good fun!
