My name is Denise but I am known as Neezie. I am from Aberdeen, Scotland and I have also lived and worked in London, Switzerland and have now been in Houston for 11 years. I am a Mum to 27 year old twins and a 21 year old daughter who are all ex alumni. My son studied Medicine at Bristol University and is now a Doctor in London, his twin sister graduated from Glasgow University and is now working as a copy writer in Amsterdam. My youngest daughter is currently in her final year studying Law in Manchester. I enjoy travel, cooking, socializing, music, walking and cycling. I have had so many amazing experiences as a result of my family travels and I embrace every opportunity thrown at me. I believe the recipe for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have instead of what you don’t have and to be happy over the good fortune of others. I hope for continued health and happiness for all my wonderful family and friends.
I qualified as an RGN from Robert Gordon's University, Aberdeen in 1984 and I have maintained my Registration during my international travels. I have now worked at BISH for 8 years as school Nurse. I specialized in Burns, Reconstructive Surgery and Intensive Care. My biggest achievement was being actively involved in the Piper Alpha Disaster which changed my life! I had a lead role in the Quality Assurance group for the Surgical Directorate at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary which set and met standards of care across the Hospital. I also started a Self Help Group during my years in reconstructive surgery for people with facial disfigurement called “About Face” which is still active to this day. Other achievements include being responsible for setting up the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary “Tissue Viability Group” which ultimately increased awareness and significantly reduced the number of patients requiring invasive pressure sore reconstruction. I was also responsible annually for organizing and planning "The Surgical Roadshow' This was a display of all the research projects going on as this was a subject of great interest to me. I also worked as a Research Nurse at Roche Pharmaceuticals dosing first time into 'man'.

BISH is a most unique and friendly setting for both students and staff. It offers fantastic teaching and support. I really enjoy being part of the “BISH family” and believe it to be a very close, special, yet a most professional environment to work in. It is an honor to be exposed and involved in such a global community/extended family. I absolutely love working with Debs and have a very unique working relationship/friendship. I love working with the children, the staff and the families of the British International School of Houston. BISH is a very special and happy environment.
