Reaching for the Stars
Fabulous! In one word, that sums up the Milepost 2 production, ‘Cinderella and Rockerfella’ on Thursday night. The singing was bright and enthusiastic, the lines were spoken with confidence and the dancing was great. The audience played their part; laughing at the ‘ugly sisters’, booing Fairy Nastyboots, cheering Buttons and Teaser, and rejoicing when Cinderella and Prince Charming fell in love! The performance had everything that we have come to expect from Milepost 2.
At the end of the performance, as well as thanking everyone who had helped to make the evening such a great success, I spoke about ‘ambition’. We encourage all our children to be ambitious, to have big dreams, to reach for the stars! Ambitions are realised through determination and hard work. At BIS, our ambition for the children is to be successful in all aspects of their education. We expect them to achieve not only in maths, English, science and the other academic subjects, but also in music, drama, sport and art.
As we are part of the Nord Anglia group of schools, an opportunity to enhance our provision in music and drama has opened up. In January, we are preparing to welcome to TX, Christopher Mossey, the associate vice president for artistic and strategic planning, from the Julliard School of the Performing Arts in New York. We look forward to seeing how our affiliation will help our children to achieve even more in this area. Not everyone is destined to become a star, but as we provide more opportunities, not only will we see our children grow up to become doctors, lawyers, engineers and scientists, but we may also see a child from TX become ‘the next big thing’…like Buttons and Teaser, the talking dog.
EYFS Family Morning
Thank you to all the parents and staff who made Saturday morning such a fun event for all the children in EYFS. We really appreciate all your hard work, and it was great to see the TX community making the most of this opportunity.
Year 1 Visit to the Family Garden
‘Plants have leaves to collect the sunlight to help them grow!’ Tina in Year 1 explained to me just before the class set off on their visit to the ‘Family Garden’ in Thao Dien. The children have been studying ‘Flowers and Insects’ and the visit was a great ‘exit point’ for their IPC work this term. To find out more and see some of the photos, please follow the link:
With only two weeks left of term, there a number of events and activities that I would like to draw your attention to.
Remember to head over to An Phu Secondary school tomorrow for the annual Christmas BISzaar. The doors open at 9am until 2pm, and there will plenty of opportunities to buy Christmas presents as well as join in the raffle or simply have a bit of fun.
Ladies Night for Tu Xuong Parents
For those of you who are attending this event, I hope you have a lot of fun at the Caravelle.
CHQ Sign Up
Attached to Ms Emma’s email was the Club Booklet for Term 2. There are a whole range of activities on offer. In the past we have allocated clubs on a first come, first served basis. This time around we are going to offer randomly to give everybody who signs up for a club, within the time frame, an equal opportunity to take part.

Also in parents corner this week you will find more information about how you can join in with the English conversation classes for parents.
Whole School Christmas Concert
For some, Christmas is ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’, hence the title of this year’s whole school music concert. The event will take place at the Ben Thanh Theatre on Thursday evening at 6.30pm.
Christmas EYFS MP1
The festive mood will continue into the final week of the term, as our EYFS children, with special guests…the Milepost 1 choir, will perform for all their mums and dads on Wednesday 16th December at 8.15am.
For more information about both of these events, (including an extra rehearsal for the Milepost 1 Choir), please see Mr Jon’s post:
For those who are going, I look forward to seeing you at the BISzaar tomorrow, and I wish everyone a relaxing weekend.
