Our SPLAT sessions this week in F2 were a great success for all involved. Parents and carers were invited to spend some time in their child’s class to experience our morning routines such as busy fingers, hello time and the choice the children get when allowed to explore our learning spaces. We saw children being scientists whilst they explored with magnets, creators when they designed their own masks, readers as they told stories and role played, mathematicians as they counted how many Lego pieces it took to make a sword and problem solvers as they discussed how best to build a cave for the dinosaurs. I hope all that attended got an insight into how life is in F2. We were very proud that the children were able to show off their independent skills, sharing where they would go if they wanted to do a particular activity, what kind of voices they use inside and outside and how they can access their own snack when they are feeling peckish.
The children were quite sad the following day when they realised that their mummies and daddies were not coming in every day “Can they not come in every day? It was so much fun!” There was lots of positive feedback from parents too explaining “how surprised they were that the children have access to so many different learning opportunities.” And “It is nice to observe the children feeling so confident in their classes.” We are already planning our next session for more action packed fun!
