An important measure of the success of any school is how quickly the students adapt to their new surroundings and begin to take on the challenge of learning. As we approach the October half term holiday, I am delighted to report how well all the students at Dąbrowskiego, our Early Years Centre have settled into the routines of the class and school life. All the staff shares a common goal, to create a lifelong love of learning within our students and this is at the heart of everything we do.
One of the privileges of being the Head of the Early Years Centre is the opportunity to visit classes and review lessons; this affords me the opportunity to observe the amazing things that our students are able to achieve. It is indeed a responsibility my colleagues and I take very seriously as part of the measures to constantly improve our provision. Our school uses the High Performance Learning approach which is unique to all Nord Anglia Education schools. High Performance Learning believes that all students can aim to achieve to the highest levels. Limits are not placed on students and aspirations are set which are challenging and inspiring.
It has been wonderful to see High Performance Learning reflected in our lessons this term. The focus on High Performance Learning in each lesson provides a thread that ensures that learning is linked and developed across the curriculum. High Performance Learning focuses on two main areas: ‘Values, Attitudes and Attributes’ such as collaboration and concern for society; and ‘Advanced Cognitive Performance Characteristics’ such as critical thinking and imagination. These elements are visible in lessons and are making a real impact on the learning at our school. As you are supporting your children at home, I would encourage you to talk with them, not just about what they are learning, but also how they are learning and the skills they are developing to learn
It gives me enormous pleasure to end this half-term with such a good report on the development of learning at our school. Thank you to all parents and students for their hard work and support this term. I wish you all a peaceful and restful holiday.
