Welcome to the start of the new school year. I am eager to begin a new year of learning and leading. Like many of you, my summer was spent catching up on things I enjoy, but don’t necessarily have as much time to commit to during the school year. One of these is reading. I love to read…books, articles, anything! One book that I reread is Mindset by Carol Dweck. I strongly encourage all parents and educators to read and reread this book. It is powerful in supporting the belief that with determination and effort anything is possible. Read it!
Each new school year brings with it the promise of what is before us. I believe this new year will present opportunities for our school community to grow closer together and for our school to continue our quest for excellence for every learner. The staff have certainly had a busy start to the term.and are to be sincerely congratulated on all their hard work behind the scenes, particularly during the holidays and for their genuine desire to do the very best for your child. I would like to welcome Miss Vanessa McShane (Reception Teacher), Miss Nikki Stefl and Mr Jonathan Burrows (Year 2 Teachers), Mr Mike McClure (Year 3 Teacher) and Miss Laura Page and Ms Julia Christie (Year 4 Teachers), Mr Rob Crook (Year 5 Teacher), Mrs Elizabeth Waterhouse (Year 6 Teacher) and Mr Mike Waterhouse, the new Deputy Head of Primary who began working in our school this week. We look forward to their contributions to our school community and we hope that they find their time here rewarding.
As we begin the new school year I look forward to seeing each of you at many of the “Back to School” events. These events are listed in the newsletter and on the website calendar. If you are new to The British School, welcome to a wonderful learning community.
See you soon!
