Pleased to Meet You...Robert Prokic

This week we are pleased to meet Robert Prokic, Head of Year 9, Teacher of Mathematics.

Robert Prokic

Where are you from originally? I am originally from a small town in the North East of England called Alnwick. You may not have heard of the town but you may recognise its castle, which was used as the set of Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter films.

Have you lived in any other countries? Before moving to Warsaw, my wife and I lived in the United States for 3 amazing years, working at the Nord Anglia school in Washington DC. The US was a fantastic place to live and we managed to visit 27 states in the time that we were there!

Where and what did you study for your education? Thus far in my educational journey I have acquired a degree in Mathematcis and Economics, a PGCE in Mathematics (teaching qualification) and a masters degree in Education. All of these were studied for at the University of Sheffield.

How long have you been at TBS? This year is my first year at TBS.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at our school? The students at TBS are fantastic and have a real thirst for knowledge - especially in mathematics. They are a pleasure to teach!

What are you most looking forward to in the 2018/2019 academic year? I am very much looking forward to becoming an established member of the teaching staff here at TBS and seeing students thrive and further their knowledge and skills throughout the academic year. I am also looking forward to seeing Mr Mitchell shave his long blonde locks for charity, later in the year.

Whose your favourite historian/scientist/literary figure and why? Satoshi Nakomoto - the mysterious creator of Bitcoin; I am a firm believer that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology will have a huge positive impact  on the world in years to come.

What is your favourite thing about living in Warsaw, Poland?I love the fact that Warsaw is such a cyclist-friendly city, and the availability of good cuisine from around the world.

What do you miss most from home? My pet tortoise, Suzie. I also miss fish and chips.
