It was a pleasure to speak to so many Year 9 students and parents on Wednesday evening at the Key Stage 4 Information Evening.

Secondary Sts lab

Now is the time that our students in Year 9 have to choose their optional subjects to study for (I)GCSE. There was a great deal of enthusiasm, many questions and lots of ‘buzz’ as parents and students quizzed our Heads of Departments about the different courses on offer.

This is a vital step in the( I)GCSE journey and the most important aspect of any student’s (I)GCSE choice is that they study a broad and varied curriculum. Last year we offered over 20 different subject courses to almost 70 candidates who sat near to 650 papers.

Candidates accessing the top-ranking universities in the UK will typically be able to offer at least 8 top grades at (I)GCSE with many able more; on average, our students achieve 10 (I)GCSEs.  A lot of work ahead for these students, but exciting times nonetheless.
