Charities Update

We are delighted to announce that this year our main charitable focus within school will be Fundacja Samodzielność od Kuchni.

  • Little Chef

This charity Fundacja Samodzielność od Kuchni is run by the owners of Little Chef, who are very excited to be collaborating with our school over the course of this academic year.

During the Summer Fair this weekend, Katia and her team will be not only producing a live demonstration of cooking  but they will have a tent designated to the charity that we are supporting, please feel free to drop by and talk to her about the wonderful work that both she and her charity is doing.

The charity works with children who live in care homes around Poland, and is designed to help integrate them into the real world once they have left their care home. The money that we raise will allow the charity to teach them basic skills such as budgeting, food shopping and cooking to name but a few. As part of the charities sustainability they are currently working in different cities around Poland training chefs to work with children aged between 14-18 years old, this will allow for more of these events that they are currently developing to happen on a more regular basis.

Last year, with the help of the PTA we worked closely with 4 charities and had several fund raising events and it is wonderful to reveal that we raised over 43,000zl. This money has been divided between our 4 main charities as well as the Warsaw Volunteer Mission and the ARKA foundation.

The 4 main charities that we raised money for along with what they money went towards are:

  • Broken Ties – renovation of houses where families live
  • Aim High – creating bicycle workshops and development of family clubs in Praga.
  • Fundacja Emir – medical treatments, veterinary care and hospital care of dogs who are old, ill or up for adoption
  • Day care for disabled children in Trzebinia – to help fund buying a minibus with the support of the local government.

I am sure you can agree that all 4 charities are very worthwhile and the contribution we have made will create a lasting impression.

As always, please keep your eyes out for what is going on at school, either through the school facebook, twitter or Instagram page or by looking at the posters around school.

If you are interested in helping out at any of the fundraising events that either the school or the PTA hold, please do get in touch. I wish you all a wonderful weekend and hope to see many of you at our Summer Fair on Saturday 7th September.
