2. How is the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) different to other national or international courses for 16-18 year olds?
The IB programme develops the future leaders the workplace needs – people who know how to collaborate and who know the value of teamwork, people with analytical ability, versatility, international understanding. It is a broad curriculum with an emphasis on the development of skills fit for the 21st Century workplace and for employment in careers yet to be defined!
3. What type of student benefits from an IB Diploma programme?
The programme is committed to fostering a set of values and attributes described by the term: learner profile. The IB graduates are thinkers, inquirers, communicators, principled (acting with integrity and honesty), open-minded, caring (showing compassion and respect to others), while at the same time being risk-takers, reflective and understanding the need for balance in their lives.
4. Who will support my child’s learning?
With over 100 pupils studying for the IB Diploma from many countries in our new state-of-the-art IB building we have a we have a very well developed tutoring system at the school. Our tutors are also experienced IB teachers and leaders and are supported by University counsellors for both UK/Europe and North American applications. These staff are led by Senior Staff with decades of IB experience and leadership in school settings.

6. How long has the diploma programme been offered at The British School Warsaw?
We are very proud of our incredibly strong performance year on year in the IB diploma. We have been preparing children for the diploma for over 15 years (since2001) and regularly get the highest IB Diploma average of any Central or Eastern European School. Over the last five years several of our top pupils have achieved 45/45 points in the Diploma which places them in the top 500 pupils worldwide.
7. How much better are TBS pupils performing than the average IB or A Level pupil?
The world average IB diploma score is just below 31. Our average in summer 2016 was over 36, this placed us as the highest achieving IB school in Central and Eastern Europe. Individually pupils excel in their individual subjects with the average subject grade being 5.7 last year compared with 4.8 worldwide. It should be noted that a score of +36 is equal to better than 3 A grades at A level and allows a pupil to realistically apply to the top 200 world universities.
8. Do the top international Universities recognise the IBDP?
The IBDP is widely regarded as the best preparation for university study: Put simply, the IBDP is accepted by more universities around the world than any other post 16 (High School) qualification. This includes Polish universities who value the skills and knowledge IBDP graduates demonstrate.
9. So which universities do students from TBS study at?
With a rich heritage spanning a quarter century we are very proud of our Alumni. Many have gone on to study at the leading universities of the world. In the UK this includes Oxford and Cambridge Universities, The London Universities of Imperial, UCL, Kings and LSE as well as many other outstanding UK top tier universities. In North America we have Alumni at Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, McGill and NYU as well as leading Canadian universities such as Toronto and University of British Columbia. Closer to home many of our students choose to study in Europe including University of Warsaw, Warsaw School of Economics, Maastricht and Leiden
