Parent Teacher Association

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at The British School Warsaw is a dynamic, friendly organisation dedicated to enriching the school experience. Every parent and teacher is automatically a member of the PTA.

Parent Teacher Association

Welcome to The British School Warsaw’s Parent Teacher Association. Every parent of an enrolled student is automatically a member. We collaborate with staff, families, and the Warsaw community to enrich the educational experience for all. The PTA organises school events, fundraisers, and activities for students and their families. Highlights include the Back to School Picnic, Santa’s Grotto in the Christmas Fair, Quiz Night, and Sports Day. We also coordinate film nights, class discos, coffee mornings, and charity drives throughout the school year.

For further information on upcoming meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities, like us on Facebook and join one of our closed parent communities. These are great places to have your questions answered by other TBS parents and to discuss current happenings. We look forward to welcoming you!

Getting to know our PTA Members:

Elaine - chair

Hello, my name is Elaine Hiser and I am your PTA Chair. I moved to Warsaw with my family nearly 4 years ago from Wigan in the Northwest of England.  This is our first international assignment and our first experience of an international school; our previous school was a small village primary.  I have three children at TBS in years 3, 5 and 7.

I’m really excited about this year as we’ve already started new and exciting ways for the PTA to contribute. As a committee, we’ve tried to speak to and gather opinions from as many of you as we could, as a result we have a fresh look and lots of new opportunities for you to get involved.

There are so many new and exciting initiatives – we will have an annual calendar of events, new charity work (including opportunities for students & families to get involved in our charitable efforts and not just fund raising), and a new social media presence. We already know the fantastic job our International Representatives and Class Friends do; and we are excited to see what the year brings.

We would love as many of you to be involved as possible. We want to hear your experiences about the school and welcome any input or suggestions you might have to make our PTA even better. I look forward to meeting and speaking with all of you throughout the year. Should you have any questions or concerns, to contact me click here.

Therese - Secretary

I am Therese Asmar, Secretary to the PTA committee and a member of the charity committee. My two children are in year 3. I am British with a multicultural background.

I have lived in Poland for 24 years and speak Polish fluently. I can help you with practical issues living in Poland. The school environment helps my children become global citizens, accepting cultural differences and learning about the world from their classmates. To contact me click here.

Mirella - Dabrowskiego coordinator

My name is Mirella Young, and I am both the Parent Ambassador Coordinator at the Early Years Centre, Dabrowskiego campus, as well as one of the American country representatives.

My family is from Massachusetts in the United States, and my husband and I have been living in Warsaw since January 2017 with our two children, Sophie in Year 1 and Charlotte in Year 5. I have Polish roots and am bilingual in Polish and English.

We love the academic curriculum at TBS as well as the international community. If you have any questions about the Parent Ambassador program, building a more vibrant community at Dab, or settling in at TBS and Warsaw as an expat, I would love to hear from you. To contact me click here.

Sonia - Charities

Hi-Cześć, my name is Sonia Kołodziej, I am Polish. I have been a member of the PTA team for 4 years and currently I lead the Charity Team

My 2 sons are both in Secondary School in Year 11 and Year 8.

I like the PTA as it gives opportunity to connect with the whole school community (parents, teachers and students). Our main goal as the Charity Team is to carry on charitable projects which mean more than just only raising money.

Hello, My name is Nieves Estrada and I’m the Class Friends Coordinator sharing the role with Nancy.

I’m a Spanish mother of three boys (Year 2, Nursery and a baby). We joined TBS one year ago at the Early Years Centre (Dąbrowskiego campus) so this is my first year in Limanowskiego.

What I like most about TBS is the way children are encouraged to think out of the box with a lot of values and the possibility to share this nice environment with such a huge mix of nationalities. to contact class friends committee please click here.

Hello, my name is Wenyan Zhou and you can also call me Nancy.  I am the Class Friends Coordinator sharing the role with Nieves.

I am from China and have a son in Year 2. We had lived in Warsaw previously for 4 years and this summer have returned we came back to TBS.

What we like the most about TBS is the children are helped to build goals and be ambitious. Also, the parents are able to engage with the school themselves.
