    Vice Principal

    Dr Jacek Łatkowski

I have been now teaching for 36 years at university, college and secondary school levels. I began my secondary school teaching in 1989 when I took a post as a science teacher in Hamilton, Canada.  After six years of teaching in Canada, I decided to travel to Europe by accepting a post at an international school in Munich, Germany. This marked the beginning of 25 years of international education and my involvement with the IB programme, teaching IB Physics, Mathematics and TOK for the past 25 years. I also had a fantastic opportunity of teaching physics and mathematics at Oxford and Cambridge Universities as well as MIT, and I have tried to continue conducting academic research in thermodynamics when time permits. I have been an IB inspector, examiner and workshop leader and I have written a Pre-IB Mathematics book. My passion of film, history and ….cats almost matches my love of physics and mathematics. I have two grown-up children living now in Vancouver and Auckland respectively.   This year marks twelve years of my work at TBS Warsaw and my return to Poland after almost 30 years of absence.

    Alfons Vinent

I completed my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Cumbria more than 16 years ago and remained in the North West of England where I started my teaching career by working in two state schools, St Wilfrid’s Church of England school in Blackburn and Rhyddings Business and Enterprise school in Accrington. After several years of teaching in the UK, I accepted a position in an international school in Qatar where I spent six years and then moved to the British International School of Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia where I spent another six years and occupied several positions of responsibility, from Continuing Professional Development and Newly Qualified Teacher Coordinator to Deputy and Acting Headteacher of the Senior School and Sixth Form. In 2019 I achieved my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and became a fully qualified British School Overseas inspector.

I strongly believe that every child, regardless of their background or ability, has the right to access good quality education and to be pushed to achieve the best they can. This principle directs everything that I always do in school.

I completed a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol graduating in 2009.  While I was an undergraduate I worked during the holidays as an outdoor activities instructor and this gave me the motivation to train to become a teacher.  I began my teaching career in London in 2010 where I taught at Buxton School for four years. I then moved to The British School Kathmandu where I continued teaching science, as well as progressing first to head of Key Stage 3 and then Assistant Head Teacher: Head of Key Stage 5.
