External MOOC's
Our teachers will be supporting Year 13’s in studying some MOOCs - Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
These are in depth, interactive step-by-step courses, aimed at reaching an unlimited number of participants worldwide to create a community of lifelong learners (please see the accompanying FAQ document)
They allow our students to access subject specific courses provided by some of the best educational establishments in the world. MOOcs are generally quite specialized and cover hundreds of topics.
Expected contact time with teachers will initially be 3-5 period per MOOC per week – a mixture of accessing the online content together and teacher-led tutorials to discuss the online subject content.
Teacher led tutorials will be integral to this programme of studies; times and days will be agreed with individual teachers in the first week of Term 3.
TBS Warsaw Internal MOOC's
A series of weekly virtual sessions led by our teachers. They are included in each student’s weekly schedule and do not need to be signed-up for. The details of the three weekly sessions can be found below:
TED-Led
A series of online lectures and debates led by the staff and students at TBS. As a TEDx center the school has traditionally embraced the diversity of TED talks and can continue this through this weekly virtual platform. Students can expect to view a variety of TED talks, engage in debates and be challenged to consider alternative viewpoints.
Lifestyle Lectures
Lifestyle Lectures will be a series of ‘watch-along and do’ practical sessions where our teachers will be offering life-skills in preparation for independent living or university life. Sessions could include home-maintenance, cooking lessons and information on student finance management and personal banking as examples
TBS Community Quiz
One of the phenomena to grow from the current climate is the concept or community quizzes. These weekly, virtual quizzes will provide students some light entertainment, and more importantly a chance to come together as a community for some general knowledge based fun.
Pastoral Time
Students regularly connect with their form tutors. All Year 13s will be asked to have a 15 minutes check-in every Monday and Friday built into their week. This is is a key part of the week as it allows students a chance to discuss any queries they may have and also for tutors to give out important notices that may have been missed by the students.
