Allie Cottam

Nursery Teacher

Hello! My name is  Alexandra, (Allie) Cottam, this is my second year at BISW and I am looking forward to joining  Early Years team! BISW has allowed me the opportunity to grow as an educator and learn from some of the best teachers .I value play-based learning through exploration and creativity, and encourage the children to ask questions and think collaboratively.

I am originally from just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is also where I received my degree in Education and Psychology.I moved to DC a couple of years ago with my husband, Paul, our cat, Wix,and our dog, Levi! Outside of school, I enjoy hiking and exploring the DMV, spending time with my family and traveling (especiallyto visit my husband’s family in the UK and Jamaica)!I know that this year is going to be filled with fun, adventure, and growth. I look forward to working alongside the children and creating a safe, welcoming environment for them to learn and, above all, be happy!
