Mathematics

I grew up in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, which is around 20 minutes from Leeds. I am a committed Leeds United supporter, even when times are tough. I completed my undergraduate degree at Sheffield Hallam University, gaining a BSc in Mathematics. From this, I then completed my PGCE at Durham University. Following this I worked in Gateshead in the North East of England for two years. I have worked at BISW since 2017 as a teacher of Mathematics and Science. I also coach Middle School soccer and basketball.

Outside of teaching, you will find me wandering around Washington DC with my Fujifilm camera and feasting on all the food that DC has to offer.

Why do you love teaching?

I love teaching because each day is different, and this is because of our students. Seeing them grow over time is one of the privileges of my job and what makes me get up every day. That ‘a ha’ moment where a student finally connects all the dots is my favourite time of day.
