Head of Mathematics

Head of Mathematics Eleanor Bram is an experienced international teacher, having taught in the UK, Sweden, Hong Kong, Houston and now Washington DC. In addition to teaching the IBDP (SL & HL), she is also an IB examiner. Ms Bram has also taught IGCSE and KS3 for more than ten years.

I discovered teaching after stuyding at the London School of Economics with the intention of becoming an actuary. I gained my BSc in Actuarial Science and began my professional actuarial training working in Group Risk for a large bank.

Having dipped my toe into the water of teaching while in Hong Kong for a few months, I moved into teaching in the UK shortly thereafter. More recently, I completed a Master's in Mathematics Education with a focus on an Inquiry-Based Approach to Teaching Mathematics.

I believe that maths should be relevant and engaging and that it is accessible to everyone. So, my mantra for all my students is to add the word 'yet' to the phrase 'I can't do it'!

I had an incredible experience teaching at the British International School of Houston over the last two years. Now, I am thrilled to be a member of BISW, and I look forward to being a part of the community I've heard so many good things about.
