I joined the BISW team after moving to the United States with my wife and briefly working with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. Prior to relocating, I worked for three years at a large primary school in West Sussex, England. During my time there, I acted as a Year 2 Teacher, a member of the Senior Leadership Team, a Teacher Governor and Head of PE across the school. I moved to England from Tanzania, East Africa, where I worked at a private, international school which catered to a diverse student body. I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a BA Honors Degree in Marketing with Media and Cultural Studies.
Before embarking on my teaching career, I worked in the media industry for three years serving as an Account Manager for the Press Association, the UK’s largest news agency. I worked with clients in the public and private sectors, including the Labour and Conservative Parties, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Amnesty International, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Buckingham Palace, UEFA and the Champions League. My interest in current affairs, global politics, and foreign relations continues to feature prominently in my life at BSW, as I endeavour to provide children with the global competencies they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
I live near DC with my beautiful wife and our dog ‘Poppy’. I consider myself lucky to have travelled to many places and experienced many cultures and unique adventures. My experiences have contributed to my appreciation of diversity, desire to explore the world around me and my interest in lifelong learning. I believe in a healthy, positive and well-balanced lifestyle and am committed to travelling near and far to surf as many waves as I can. When in DC, I love to mountain bike, play tennis and skateboard.
Being located in the capital of the United States, BISW attracts students from a diverse, international community. The students are curious, intelligent, confident and internationally minded. They come from many different countries and backgrounds which makes for an exciting and engaging classroom environment. The unique experiences they share enrich and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
