Joanna McBride

Year 5 Teacher

After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BEd (Hons) in Primary Education, I taught in Manchester for several years before moving overseas for the first time, to teach at a British School in Dubai. In August 2011, I achieved a lifelong ambition and moved to the USA, teaching at the British International School of Houston – another member of the Nord Anglia group. Now, twelve years into my teaching career, I am ready for a new challenge and cannot wait to be part of the BISW family.

Out of school, music and travel are my passion. I am working my way through all fifty states, recently reaching the halfway point! I also regularly visit family and friends in England, Ireland and Italy. I recently became an Aunty for the first time.

The location of BISW opens up so many opportunities for staff and students alike. I am so excited to be joining such a motivated, inspiring school with incredible possibilities around every corner.

What the students say about me:

“... fun to learn with.”

“... the best teacher I’ve ever had.”

“... very unique and a wonderful teacher, who loves David Beckham.”
