Joanna McBride

Year 5 Teacher

Joanna McBride has been a primary school teacher for over seventeen years, most of which has been spent teaching Years 5 and 6. Since moving to Washington DC to teach at BISW, she has been honoured by Washington Family Magazine as one of their teachers of the year.

After growing up in Derby, I attended Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education. Since then, I have taught in Manchester, Dubai and Houston before joining BISW in 2016. Mathematics is my favourite subject both to teach and learn.

Out of school, music and travel are my passion, with West Virginia recently becoming my thirtieth visited state. I also enjoy visiting family in England and Italy, as well as Ireland, where my nephews and niece live. Although I love teaching, being an Aunty is my favourite job of all.
