Karen Pena 2021

Year 2 Teacher

Ms Pena teaches Year 2 and enjoys the great learning that is possible with the IPC topics. She loves to create wonderful experiences for the children every day.

I have been a member of the British International School of Washington for many years, and now I feel that the community is part of my family. I graduated from Bath Spa University, UK, in 1996. I continued my university studies and added qualifications in Early Years Education as well as Design and Technology. I moved to Washington, DC, in 2003 to teach here. Although I felt excited, I never anticipated I would be here all these years later. Our school environment is an electric place with many creative and inspiring things happening every day. I love teaching my students but also learning alongside them. My son has recently moved to our secondary school, and I enjoy being part of both the teacher and parent communities.
