Katie Stewart

English & Drama Teacher

Born and raised in Leicester, UK, Katie completed her BA in English & Drama at Aberystwyth University in Wales. Following her teacher training at Warwick University, she taught English at a 14-18 college in Leicestershire before moving to Washington DC to teach English and Drama at BISW in 2008.

I am passionate about helping my students to find joy in the way literature and the arts can provide windows into different experiences, perspectives and cultures. I am also invested in supporting students to develop their understanding and action towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

My vision is to ensure my students become more confident in their abilities to be leaders and change-makers in the world.

Since being at BISW, I have continued my own education by completing an MA in Education at Durham University.
