Teacher Librarian

I am a book enthusiast and story-teller who loves to use my passion for teaching to encourage life-long reading in our students.

“A child who reads, will be an adult who thinks.”

I have been a part of the BISW community since 2014; as a member of the parents’ association; working in the English Department, and now as school librarian for primary and secondary. I guide children of all ages to choose books that excite them and work with staff to improve literacy and creative writing. When not reading stories, I enjoy musical theatre, dog walks and helping to run the cheerleading team; Lion Pride.

I have worked in a range of roles in Education. I loved working with senior students as an English Teacher for 15 years and during that time I raised attainment, used my coaching strategies to educate staff and students about emotional intelligence and mentored colleagues.

Proud of my native Scotland, I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Literature and Politics from Glasgow University. I also achieved a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Strathclyde University.

I have always loved working with children and in my new role I get to see how children from all over the world can come together and share their love of a story together. My family and I have embraced our life in the USA and are grateful to be part of the BISW family.
