Lesley McErlane

English Teacher, Health and Wellbeing Teacher, and Extended Essay Coordinator

A dedicated teacher in English and Pastoral Care, Lesley McErlane has more than twenty years of experience in education. She is an English teacher who is passionate about raising achievement in young people. She is delighted to facilitate the activism, passion, and meaningful discussions found in Health and Wellbeing classes. Ms McErlane shares her love of literature by teaching English and supporting IB students as they complete their extended essays.

I have worked in a range of roles in education. I have loved working with senior students as an English Teacher since 1999, and since then, I have used my coaching strategies to educate staff and students about emotional intelligence. Giving students life skills to manage change and face their fears is integral to developing resilient young adults.

Proud of my native Scotland, I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Literature and Politics from Glasgow University. I also achieved a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Strathclyde University.

I love working with young learners and teenagers as they continue their journey to further education, and I am excited to continue this effort in my new IB role as the Extended Essay Coordinator. I love musical theatre, reading, travel, and dog walks beside the canal. My family and I have embraced our life in the USA and are grateful to be part of the BISW community.
