I have been a part of the BISW community since 2014: as a member of the parents’ association; working in the English Department, helping to create and deliver the Health and Well-Being curriculum and as school librarian for primary and secondary.
I guide children of all ages to choose books that excite them while working with staff to improve literacy and creative writing. When not reading, I enjoy musical theatre, dog walks and helping to run the cheerleading team; Lion Pride.
I have worked in a range of roles in education. I loved working with senior students as an English Teacher since 1999 and during that time I used my coaching strategies to educate staff and students about emotional intelligence. I believe giving students life skills to manage change and face their fears is integral to developing resilient young adults.
Proud of my native Scotland, I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Literature and Politics from Glasgow University. I also achieved a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Strathclyde University.
I have always loved working with children and in my new role I get to see how children from all over the world can come together and share their love of a story together. My family and I have embraced our life in the USA and are grateful to be part of the BISW family.
