Reception (PK4) Teacher

Lucy is a keen traveller from North London who has visited more than thirty states.

I grew up in North London and moved to Brighton, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Having completed my degree, I decided to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Education to become a teacher. I worked at a large school in Brighton, before moving to Washington DC in 2015. Since joining BISW, I have worked in Year One and Reception.

I love teaching at the British International School of Washington because it is different from any other place I have worked due to the varied range of backgrounds and nationalities of both its students and staff. This makes BISW an exciting place to work as I meet, collaborate with and teach such a diverse group of people. Teaching Early Years is incredibly rewarding as you watch children develop strong foundations, both socially and academically, on which they build the rest of their lives.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading and traveling, particularly around the United States, where I love to visit National Parks. I have already been to Yosemite, Zion, and the Grand Canyon, and I hope to see even more during my time here.
