Matthew McGrath

Mathematics Teacher

Not only teaching maths for the curriculum, Matthew McGrath also believes that the application of maths is key. Teaching students to solve problems will stand them in good stead both academically and for any future challenges they must be resilient through.

I moved to DC for a challenge professionally. Before the move, I had earned commendations at my prior academy and became the deputy director after 3 years in the post.

Teaching in Washington to internationally aware students will be new to me, but I've always seen myself flourishing in the environment provided at a school with such a high level of standards.

I've been watching football (soccer) since I've been very young and even though my dad tried his best to make me a Burnley fan by buying the kit early doors, I somehow found myself supporting Arsenal (a very different team, I know). It may have had something to do with the "Invincibles".

I look forward to working with parents, students and colleagues alike during my time at BISW.
