Outside Exhibition

It was the aim of the Outside Exhibition to challenge students to think and be creative during the lockdown period. Little did we know that the lockdown would last as long as it did, and so, therefore, the meaning behind this exhibition grew to a much higher importance.

All three campuses of PBIS got involved and by March we had many entries, from students from Year 2 through to Year 13. The creative work consists of short films, dance performances, whole class collaborations, individual pieces of art, and songs, and combinations of several artistic forms.

It is wonderful to see over 60 entries now placed in our virtual exhibition, where our students, parents and staff can access and experience the efforts of our talented students.

In this next week, we will invite our 4 judges from various artistic disciplines to deliberate and experience these individual pieces of creativity, and reward students with further awards for their efforts and outcomes.

Our first judge is Henry Hodge, a diverse cinematographer & producer based in Prague & Los Angeles. He has filmed & produced a wide range of visual content for over six years, from feature length films, commercials, music videos, event promotions, corporate videos, to social media based advertisement. He has worked with brands such as University of New York in Prague, Prague Morning, Prague Airport, MaxMara & artists such as Lvcas Dope & Jmenuju Se Martin. He has also been working with our Year 12 IB Film students, acting as a mentor and has provided some extracurricular experience in the field.

Our second judge is Jade Becker, who completed her professional training at The Royal Ballet School between 1999 and 2007. After graduating she joined The Czech National Ballet where she performed in classical and neo-classical repertoire, most notably as the lead roles in Cinderella, The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty. She left the company as a soloist in 2013 to pursue a career in teaching dance and engage in freelance projects as a performer and choreographer.

Our third judge is Alena Kupčíková, an artist that has been on the Czech art scene for many years. She developed her style during the 1990s while studying at Arts Secondary School Bechyně and at The Vaclav Hollar Secondary School of Fine Arts. Afterwards she was matriculated to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, and before she graduated with her PhD in 2010, she undertook several internships at Teknikon Natal in Durban and at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Art in Paris. She has since gone on to use her artistic skills to create a Multimedia Interactive Alphabet book and Tests to detect dyslexia and learning difficulties for children from the age of 4 upwards, blurring the lines between art, philanthropy, and science. She now works with local schools and students to break the barrier between art and dyslexia.

Our fourth judge is Bibi Pelic, a local violinist, author and entrepreneur. Having pursued a violin performing career from early childhood, her life took an unexpected journey into business, startups, technology, online courses and book writing. She went on to found ConductVision, a learning company that specializes in sharing knowledge based on interdisciplinary values. With ConductVision she has developed programs that share the vast experiences of music that business and other industries benefit from. Having worked for several years in various positions in the e-learning industry, she then used her accumulated knowledge and launched ConductVision Academy, transferring the programs to an online experience
