Our new topic is all about water so the Owls have been learning about the journey of the river, using key words such as ‘source’, ‘tributary’ and ‘mouth’. They have also been working in pairs to collect data and have been using the Internet to research information about the many different river across the world, looking at facts such as the length of the rivers, their location and their features.
Many of our wise Owls are now able to locate the continent of which any specific river originates!
More recently, we have begun looking at the history of the Aral Sea, using images and information to show the Sea’s continues regression over the last 50 years showing its decrease in size.
The students are now working in pairs to create a poster in which they are using persuasive language and factual text in order to convince the reader to save the Aral Sea or to continue its redirection to the cotton fields.
This term, Year 4 Owls have already shown a deep understanding and interest in this topic and we hope it continues as we begin the looking at more interesting facts about water.
