The BST community came together once again to make every step count, walking in solidarity, raising awareness, and supporting a cause close to our hearts.
On Friday, 26th September, students, staff, and parents from both the Kalandar and Sayram campuses of The British School of Tashkent (BST) united for our annual Walk All Over Cancer event, a cherished tradition established in memory of former Principal Mr. David Kirkham. The walk continues to honour his legacy of compassion and service by bringing the school community together in support of those affected by cancer.
This year the event carried special significance: an impressive 25 million UZS was raised to support the medical treatment of two-year-old Rashidova Fariza, a child from within the wider BST community who is bravely battling cancer. Alongside the walk, a popular Bake Sale and sales of wristbands, caps, t-shirts, and ribbons helped generate funds and demonstrated the generosity of everyone involved.
We were honoured to welcome guest speakers who added depth and encouragement to the morning: Dr Sharon from the World Health Organisation, Ms Nodira who is head of Tashkent International Clinic and CSR committee lead. Their remarks emphasised the importance of awareness, early support, and community action in the fight against cancer.
Seeing parents join students and staff on the route was especially moving — a reminder that BST’s strength comes from a united community ready to support one another in times of need. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part, donated, baked, and volunteered. Your compassion and commitment made this year’s Walk All Over Cancer a powerful demonstration of care in action.
