Born and bred in the North-East of England, close to the City of Newcastle Upon Tyne, I began my overseas adventure with my wife, Nicola and daughters Grace and Amelia in 2011. Initially, we spent 7 years in the amazing city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where I taught at our Nord Anglia school.
Currently in my fourth year, enjoying working at BISB, I have taught in years 4 and 6 and this year, I have taken on the additional role of Phase Leader for years 5 and 6. It seems a long time and really is, since I qualified with a PGCE in Primary Education in 2003, however, my passion for teaching, creating fantastic relationships with students and helping them to become awesome young people still burns brightly. I firmly believe in a work hard, play hard ethos within my class and empowering the students to take a lead in their learning and develop skills which will set them in great stead for the future.
I absolutely love sport and rugby was my main passion until a very bad injury, a number of years ago, forced me to stop playing and resulted in a right leg full of titanium – almost like a bionic leg!!! Nowadays, I still train regularly at the gym, play golf very badly and have a passion for mixed martial arts, albeit watching and not actually taking part, thankfully! I am also a keen Newcastle United supporter although in all honesty, they are not very good! As well as sport, as a family we love to travel and have visited so many wonderful places. This has included a 5-week road trip around the USA as well as visits to Sri Lanka, Thailand, and some great places in Slovakia.
