New House Competitions

This term, we also have a Whole School Art Competition with a sustainability theme, which will be judged by the Eco-Beasts. Children have been challenged to ‘Create a drawing or a painting with your own 'sustainability' message’. Entries can be sent to Mr Graeme in B11 before Wednesday, 16 October. House points will be awarded for each entry, with 20 points awarded to the winners from each year group.

Below are some examples of other children’s artwork that deliver a sustainability message:

Next week, KS1 are working with the Eco-Beasts to make eco-bricks. They are challenging the rest of the school to have a go at making their own eco-bricks at home. If children make an eco-brick and bring it in to Miss Emma or Miss Susan (in Year 1), they can earn 2 house points for their House. Please make sure bottles are 1.5l and are packed very tightly with clean, dry plastic.

See the instructions below to find out how to make an ecobrick:

House Competition Results

Year 6

Year 6s Times Table Rockstars competition was a blast with Karen House reigning as champions! In second place was Akha, and in third place came Lahu.

Here’s what some of the children had to say about the tournament:

Sarah: “I am in Akha! First competition was great. We were against Yao. We won. Second competition was spectacular! We went against Karen and lost. We came second place! When we did our competition we had rock music on! It helped me a lot with my times tables. I can’t wait for the next competition! Thank you! GO AKHA!”

Pimdao: “Last Friday we had a House TT rockstar competition. It was so much fun. The whole of Lahu tried to get as much points as possible. The first game, we played against Karen, we lost! Then, the second game we went against Yao and we won! Yay! Go Lahu!!! I can’t wait to do the next one as these competitions are so memorable.”

Chanya: “I am in Yao. Every competition is always fun and exciting. The last time there was a TTRS competition we lost but I know that next time we will win. Even though we got last place I know we tried our hardest. GO YAO!!”
