High School: Sawadee Songkran! Our Songkran celebrations were a lovely way to end Term 2, and it was great to be able to wish Year 11 and Year 13 good luck in their exams in person this year.

Our Songkran celebrations were a lovely way to end Term 2, and it was great to be able to wish Year 11 and Year 13 good luck in their exams in person this year. The last two years’ Year 11 and 13 achieved our best IGCSE and IB results, and despite the challenges of the previous two years, we are expecting exceptional achievements this year.

OFQUAL (the UK Government’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) and the IB have all announced that exams will not be cancelled this year so, unlike the last two Year 11s and Year 13s, this year’s Year 11 and 13 students now have the opportunity to fully demonstrate everything that they have learned during the last two years in their final exams, which begin this week.

The last two years’ Year 11 and 13 achieved our best ever IGCSE and IB results and, despite the challenges of the last two years, we are expecting both Year 11 and Year 13 to achieve similarly excellent sets of exam results this year.

On the last day of last term, we also announced this year’s Valedictorians - the students who are currently predicted to achieve the highest IBDP Points Scores. Congratulations to Anshika, Antonia, Jahnavi, Jump and Nicky!

COVID Update

We have reviewed our COVID protocols for Term 3.

As you can see on our Back to School slides,

 

• From the start of Term 3, students who have tested positive are able to return to school when they have recovered (no symptoms and negative ATKs) after 10 days of isolation (returning on Day 11), without requiring a medical certificate.

• Once these students no longer have any symptoms, they should take our usual Sunday and Tuesday ATK tests, with parents registering the results in our Health App. This will allow us to monitor their recovery and update our systems for them to be able to return to school on Day 11.

• Students who have recovered (no symptoms and negative ATKs) and would like to return to school before Day 11 still require a medical certificate. This is very likely to require an initial RT-PCR test.

 

• High Risk students should isolate, observing for symptoms and taking daily ATK tests on each of the following four days, with parents registering Sunday, Tuesday and Friday ATK test results in our Health App.

• High Risk students who have no symptoms and four daily negative ATK results will be able to return to school following a fifth negative ATK result, from a test taken on the morning of Day 5.

• Alternatively, High Risk students could self-isolate, observing for symptoms, for 72 hours before taking an RT-PCR test. High Risk students who have a negative RT-PCR test result more than 72 hours after their High Risk contact will be able to return to school. 

Our Back to School slides also include an updated list of symptoms of COVID. Any student with a temperature or with a cough, a fever, loss of smell, taste or appetite, a headache, a sore throat, diarrhoea or any other illness should not come to school. Parents should inform their son/daughter’s Head of Year so they can coordinate learning through the VSE.

Thank you all again for your understanding and support as we work together to keep our community safe and healthy. We will continue to work with you all throughout Term 3 to review and reduce the numbers of students not in school at any time and the time that students are not in school, and we also look forward to welcoming more parents into school, beginning with the Year 6 to 7 Transition Mornings and the Careers and Higher Education Workshop taking place this week.

University Update

Depending on the country and university, offers are given out at different times and with various application deadlines, we therefore expect this list to continue to grow significantly over the coming weeks and months.

“I plan to pursue Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry, Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand. As Srinakharinwirot University offers an intensive curriculum and leading-edge technology from the beginning of the course, which would certainly support me in my studies.” 

My interest in Dentistry arose from my personal experience of seeing how such a small part of the body as a tooth could greatly affect a person’s overall well-being and daily activities. In addition, I like that Dentistry will allow me to combine my theoretical knowledge with artistic abilities. Therefore, I want to be a part of our community to help improve awareness of oral hygiene and utilise my dental knowledge to better people’s living standards, whilst forming interpersonal relationships throughout my journey. I am really excited to explore the field of Dentistry at university.”
