Meet the Teacher | Mr Harry - Harry

Meet the Teacher (#TEACHERFEATURE) is a St Andrews Bangkok community series that will give you a chance to get to know our outstanding educators – their thoughts, ideas and experiences.

 

Mr Harry, our new Year 6 teacher joined us this 2023/2024 academic year. He holds a First Class Honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education with a minor in Children's Literature and Art. He has worked for one year in a British International School in Pattaya and has spent the last four years working at a British International School in Bangkok.

 

Your education and other work experience(s)

I completed a three-year teaching degree in Manchester in 2016 and then proceeded to teach for two years in a large school near Leeds. After this, I moved to Thailand and have been teaching for five years.

 

What areas of research/topics continue to capture your attention in your field and why?

I am very passionate about developing a love of reading among pupils and helping them become lifelong readers, by developing skills and engagement.

 

What hobbies do you have and what do you love about them? And what are your other interests?

I love to swim, read and have recently been enjoying learning about plants and gardening.

 

What do you feel most passionately about and why?

I am passionate about animals and the environment and believe educating pupils about global issues is an important step in managing the health of our planet and biodiversity to preserve it for future generations.
