Every year at St Andrews International School Bangkok, we take the time not only to reflect on our achievements but also to give back to those in need. One of the ways we do this is through our annual stationery donation initiative. We believe in the importance of community and this project has evolved into a cornerstone of our sustainability efforts.
At the end of each academic year, our wonderful teachers gather any old or leftover stationery items from their classrooms and departments. From coloured pencils and glue to scissors and markers, we aim to collect everything that might otherwise go to waste. These materials are carefully sorted and readied for donation, ensuring they find a new home and are put to good use rather than ending up in a landfill.
Once collected, these items are donated to Baan Nokkamin (Luea-Khor Project), located in Soi Seri Thai. This remarkable foundation is instrumental in providing support for underprivileged children on the outskirts of Bangkok. By passing along our stationery contributions, not only can we provide these children with essential school supplies, we also get to empower them to pursue their education without the burden of high costs.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond just stationery. Throughout the year, we also donate books, clothing, and any items lingering in our Lost and Found. This holistic approach ensures that we’re minimising waste across all aspects of school life while promoting a culture of reuse and recycling. By instilling in our students a mindset of sustainability and teaching them the values of giving back, we cultivate a culture of kindness and social responsibility. The heartfelt support from our community fuels our commitment to giving and we are grateful to continue this work year after year. After all, when it comes to making an impact, a small act of kindness can truly go a long way.
