What the community looks like at St Andrews

Community at St Andrews - Community at St Andrews

At St Andrews, community is not a slogan; it is a lived experience. You see it in the way students support one another in classrooms, celebrate together at school events, and carry friendships far beyond the campus gates.

Belonging that starts early

From the very first years of Primary School, children are encouraged to connect, collaborate, and grow side by side. These relationships are strengthened not only through lessons but also through shared experiences that span cultures and interests. Projects, school events, celebrations, and residential trips help every child feel part of something bigger.

The friendships formed here are genuine and lasting. Whether it is working together on a classroom challenge or celebrating traditions like Loy Krathong, these moments build a collective spirit that stays with them.

Showing up for one another

A defining feature of the STA community is how its members show up for each other, friends and family alike. Support is not limited to school hours or academic life; it extends into celebrations, milestones, sports games, and important life moments.

A powerful example of this is the story of Kayou, a former student of St Andrews, and So Yoon, a graduate from the Class of 2026. The two first met as classmates in Primary School, sharing experiences that became cornerstones of their friendship. Even after Kayou left St Andrews and moved to the USA, their connection did not fade. Instead, it endured, strengthened by the memories they built together.

Kayou returned to Bangkok to attend So Yoon’s graduation, a meaningful gesture that reflects the depth of their bond. During that visit, Kayou and her mother also returned to the Primary School to lead a special Japanese calligraphy session with the Japanese students. A wonderful reminder that one always belongs within the STA community.

Friendships that begin early and last

One of the most powerful aspects of the St Andrews community is how early meaningful friendships begin. Even in Primary School, these relationships are genuine and deeply felt. Kayou’s own reflections from her Year 4 report capture this beautifully:

...I will leave for America, but I won't forget St Andrews, and I will work hard. At the residential, I shared a room with …Soyoon, which is what I wanted. I will miss everybody, especially So Yoon….”

These words reveal more than simple childhood memories; they highlight a strong emotional connection to both people and experiences. These moments become the building blocks of lasting friendships.

More than a school

Their story reflects what St Andrews stands for: a place where you will always belong and find community.

Ultimately, what community means at St Andrews goes far beyond academics or daily routines. It is about relationships that persist across time and distance, and the willingness to show up for one another.
