"I am delighted to be joining The British International School Shanghai, Pudong. The school is clearly excellent, providing outstanding outcomes for its students, both in terms of academic results and with regard to the huge range of extra-curricular opportunities on offer for its students. There is a very talented staff team in place and I am excited to have the opportunity to lead the school in the next stage of its development. I am looking forward to meeting parents and students in the coming months, sharing ideas for how The British International School Shanghai, Pudong will improve on the high standards already being achieved and thereby providing the education for our students which takes us beyond outstanding."
Mr Horne has been held in high regard by his former colleagues:
Highly respected by all and emotionally intelligent, Patrick is an extremely effective leader with a clear educational philosophy who successfully identifies the strength of others and delegates appropriate strategic and operational roles to other school staff. He is a confident leader, challenging underperformance at all levels, and an excellent communicator who successfully gets his messages across in all situations. He certainly leads “from the front” although he is also an excellent collaborative team player when the need arises.
Patrick has a deep understanding of curriculum, teacher development, the importance of a good pastoral system and the benefits of a strong extra-curricular programme. Patrick has very high expectations of himself and others, is totally dedicated to his work and to ensuring staff do everything possible to enable the students to achieve at the highest possible levels. He has always pursued excellence.
