Meet Our New Head of Arabic
We are delighted to introduce you to Asem Masharfa, BIS Abu Dhabi’s new Head of Arabic.  Asem joins us with a wealth of experience of leading this core subject and he is excited to continue his professional journey in our school.

At the start of term, Asem shared, ‘’We have had a busy,  but positive start to the school year, it is great to meet all the studentsI have worked as a language teacher and school leader in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and I am looking forward to being a part of such a globally renowned entity as Nord Anglia EducationI am a big believer in working closely with parents in supporting our students’ learning and I was pleased to talk and meet with all the parents who attended the coffee mornings at schoolI look forward to working together with everyone.’’

Asem will be ably assisted in leading the Arabic team by;

Rodina Khrais – Leading Arabic (B).

Teachers and leaders in the Arabic and Islamic Studies team can be contacted via the BISAD App.

Details of the learning to take place in Arabic and Islamic Studies lessons will be shared on the new Firefly platform and students will also use the local Ministry text book alongside various other resources to inspire our students, love of these subjects.  In all languages in the school, students are assessed in speaking, reading, writing and listening, and a variety of assessment methods are used to establish how well the students have learned the material.  Our school library is well stocked with Arabic language materials and we hope our students will take full advantage of these.

As usual, the experienced team will lead the community in celebrating local cultural events, such as National Day, Mother’s Day, the Holy Month of Ramadan and will organise events such as Holy Quran competitions and the Arabic Book Week.

Welcome Asem, and good luck for the new term!
