Dear Parents,

This week started in a delightfully fragrant way. The beautiful flowers delivered by caring parents can only mean one thing…Teacher’s Day! Thank you so much for making the staff at BIS feel respected and appreciated. Your kind words really made us happy.

On Wednesday, I smiled again as I watched the effect of our Juilliard guests on our young learners. Dr. Kimberly Patterson and Dr. Patrick Sutton travelled from the USA to share their passion for the cello and guitar, enthusing everyone with their talent and obvious joy for music. Our Nord Anglia collaboration with Juilliard School of Performing Arts is really having a positive impact on learning. The Juilliard music programme has been taught at the BIS for two years and one term now and Ms. Rea is seeing an amazing rise in standards across primary and secondary.

Today, we finally heard Year 4 perform ‘The Song of the Wind’ and it was certainly worth waiting for! The performance was due to be seen last Saturday, at our International Fair, however the strong winds, black skies and threatening storm meant that we finished the fair a little earlier than planned. In addition, we can finally reveal some more successes from our International fair:

  • The Art Auction has currently raised 46 million for our Tanzania project. An extra 1.3 million was raised from the sale of food and drinks.
  • The Fair raised 55 million for our community partners from sponsorship received. This money will be used to purchase items for Hy Vong (school for the deaf and disabled), KOTO, Phuc Tue Centre (centre for children with severe learning disabilities), SOS Village and Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation.
  • The BIS Garden stall raised an incredible 15 million from the sale of organic produce from our very own garden. This will all be used to improve the garden area and hen coop.

Finally, we have the winners on our lucky draw which took place in today’s assembly. Ms Gam Pham will contact the winners today.
