Class Dojo

At BIS we value the importance of good communication and understand that the channel between school and home is key in supporting our students’ progress. In the Primary School this year, to further improve communication, we have introduced Class Dojo, this is a closed app that shares what the children are learning in school with parents. With a sign up rate of over 94%, this means that almost all our parents are enjoying learning more about learning in the Primary School.
Looking at these photos with your children at home opens up a lovely discussion about what they have been learning in school. At the end of the day students sometimes return home weary and reluctant to talk about the days’ events but opening up Class Dojo and looking at photos helps to prompt and ignite these discussions.
In response to our Parent Survey last year we are working to improve individual communication and how we personalise the celebration of each student. Class Dojo has two walls -- a class focus and an individual one for each student, which means that their individual successes are celebrated. We hope that you are enjoying this new development in communication from Primary Teachers but you are always welcome and we are happy to listen to any feedback from our parents.

Parents’ Evening
It was wonderful to see so many of you in this week at our Parents’ Evenings which took place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. In five weeks a lot has happened and it is pleasing to see how the students have settled in and are working in their new classes. I know teachers always enjoy talking about their students with parents, celebrating successes and talking through strategies that will enable them to further develop. There will be another Parents’ Evening in December after the Term 1 Reports have been issued, but if you have any more questions or would like to talk with your child’s class teacher please contact them through the Primary Office or email them directly and they will happy to speak with you.

InspireMe Festival
Next week, the UK and Vietnam are celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations with the Inspire Me Festival at Hoan Kiem Lake starting on Friday evening and continuing for the whole weekend. We are very proud that our BIS Students from across Primary and Secondary will be performing on the main stage between 1:30 and 3:00pm on Saturday October 6th so please come along and support our students and enjoy this exciting event!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
