Dear Parents,

What a tremendous week for celebrating different cultures and countries - at BIS we truly are global citizens working together!

I was so pleased to see over 2,500 people visit our International Festival last Saturday. The day started with some traditional British weather, a downpour that appeared to be never ending however by 10 am the weather had cleared and all attractions at our fair were in full swing. Activities for children were numerous, including pony rides and bouncy castle, and our charity stalls and BIS Garden produce proved to be very popular. However, I would like to focus on the entertainment. To see students perform dance and music from around the world really showcased the learning in our Performing Arts department. From Africa to Spain, Japan to Korea, Britain to Vietnam – the programme was colourful, varied and highly entertaining.

After an exhilarating International Festival, our, now famous, BIS Choir sang at the Remembrance Day Service in Cua Bac Church.

Sunday was no rest day for our performers as they continued to shine on the stage. This time, the venue was on a huge outdoor stage at Hoan Kiem Lake for the British Embassy event, Inspire Me Festival. I was a very proud Principal as I stood watching our students entertain a captivated audience for over 2 hours. The BIS Choir opened with 3 familiar British songs and this was closely followed by a string ensemble, Year 6 Band, Primary Choir and excerpts from our upcoming production of Annie. I must congratulate my Maypole dancers which were the penultimate act and enthralled the audience by making ribbon patterns around the pole and undoing these without any knots! Congratulations to all members of staff – you have really helped us all to excel as a community of learners this week. A huge thank you also to our fantastic parents who have brought learning alive and for providing the delicious international buffet today. Click here to read more about International Week.
