They have been learning to answer questions about a range of different data sources and have been designing their own questions too. In Literacy, the children have been learning about prepositions, exciting adverbs and powerful verbs and have been using these to construct sentences and applying them in creative writing tasks.
The children in Year 4 have been learning all about Position and Direction in Maths and have demonstrated their mathematical ability by reading coordinates, plotting coordinates on a grid and to give instructions to translate a shape on a coordinate plane. The children have enjoyed challenging themselves through the completion of Maths Mastery challenges, which ask the children to dive deeper, problem solve and explain their reasoning. In Literacy, the children have been learning about different prefixes and how they alter the meaning of a word, as well as the meanings of different homophones.
The teachers and children have continued to enjoy the opportunity to engage in face-to-face learning using Google Meet and have used the time to consolidate and extend learning and to share story time with each other.

As the academic year whirls by, the first term in primary school draws to a close, marking the end of a whirlwind of learning, growth, and new experiences.
As we move towards the end of term, our Primary exit points are always a great celebration of learning that has taken place over previous weeks and months.
At BIS, in addition to the excellent opportunities we are providing in the classroom, we enrich the students experiences and learning by taking them on day trips.
