International Week update from Deputy Head of Primary

BIS Hanoi: A Place To Belong!

International Week is a celebration of diversity, culture, and global unity, and it holds a special place in our hearts. It's that time of the year when our school community comes together to learn, appreciate, and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions from around the world, and this year again, we have proudly celebrated our Global Citizens.

Some classrooms’ walls are adorned with colourful paintings and drawings that students have created under the guidance of some of our parents; the beautiful Chinese paintings in 3B are a great testimony to the creativity and care that our students have put into those activities.

Some Secondary students came and taught some Year 5 students how to cook Korean food; other classes learned about faraway countries such as Madagascar and their famous lemur. Year 2s learned about traditional instruments and had a go at playing traditional African drums.

Education is a key component of International Week. Teachers and visiting experts lead lessons on topics such as global issues, cultural traditions, and languages. These sessions empower students with knowledge and understanding, helping them become more informed global citizens.

Undoubtedly a favourite among students (and staff!), the International Food Buffet offered a delectable journey around the world. From yakisoba to Varenyki (Ukrainian dumplings), students get the chance to taste a range of traditional dishes from around the world, prepared by our dedicated parents. Another crucial part of International Week was our Cultural Exchange, where students and staff got another opportunity to learn about the countries that form our community. Another big thank you to your parents for making this possible!

While International Week is a week-long celebration, we ended up with our traditional flag parade. Once again, it was an amazing opportunity to come together as one and celebrate our internationalism.

International Week at BIS Hanoi is more than just an event; it is a testament to the school's commitment to diversity and global unity. It provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about and appreciate the world's rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. Through cultural displays, educational workshops, and personal interactions, International Week nurtures a global mindset, preparing students to be informed, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world. This celebration of diversity not only enriches our school community but also contributes to a more interconnected and understanding world.

Once again, thank you, and we wish you all a great holiday!
