A Legacy of Leadership and Giving Back

Giving Back - Giving Back
Giving Back

BIS Houston Students Exemplify Holiday Spirit Through Service and Giving.

This holiday season, students at the BIS Houston have truly exemplified the power of community action and service, raising over $30,000 for a variety of impactful outreach projects. It’s more than a number. It’s a reflection of who we are - a school where students grow into confident, compassionate leaders who understand the value of giving back.

Service That Builds Character

Our students explored a wide range of service opportunities, from local outreach to global partnerships. These projects are designed to be inclusive, student-led, and impactful. Whether it’s supporting families during the holidays, organising donation drives, or working with community partners, our students consistently show that leadership is about empathy, responsibility, and action.

Holiday Giving: Real Impact, Real Leadership

This season, BIS Houston students turned compassion into measurable impact:

  • Angel Tree: Bringing Joy to Local Families
Through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, our community adopted Angels, ensuring over 100 underserved children and senior citizens across Houston received new, wish list gifts to the value of over $20,000.
  • Blood Drive: Saving Lives When It Matters Most
Partnering with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, our students organised a Blood Drive that welcomed 31 donors, collected 36 donations, and helped save up to 108 lives - just in time for Thanksgiving.
  • World Children’s Day: Hope for Every Child
In collaboration with UNICEF, students raised over $2,000 to support global initiatives for children in need, connecting classroom learning to real-world impact.
  • Local Outreach: Food Drive and Secret Santa for a Cause
Students led a food drive benefiting the Houston Food Bank and raised funds for MD Anderson Cancer Center through creative initiatives like custom candy cane sales.

A Culture of Warmth and Purpose

Service isn’t just something we do - it’s part of who we are. Over the years, BIS Houston students have raised funds, volunteered time, and created lasting connections with organisations that support education, community outreach, and emergency response. These efforts have shaped a school culture that values kindness, creativity, and global citizenship while helping students develop real-world skills = planning, teamwork, and communication - that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Looking Ahead: 25,000 Hours of Impact

As part of our 25th anniversary, our student leaders are guiding this year’s service journey. From small acts of kindness to large-scale initiatives, they are building a roadmap that reflects our values and celebrates our legacy. The 25,000-hour challenge is an invitation to every member of our global family- from Early Years to Year 13 to our community - to take part in something bigger than themselves. It’s a chance to lead, to learn, and to leave a lasting mark on our community.

Why This Matters for Your Child

Parents often ask what makes BIS Houston different. The answer is simple: we help students become well-rounded individuals who care deeply about the world around them. We provide inclusive education that encourages every child to lead, prioritise wellbeing through values-driven learning, connect students to global challenges through meaningful service, and celebrate creativity and action alongside academic achievement.
