The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC) is a worldwide online challenge run by University of Waterloo in Canada. It introduces computer science to students and is designed to get students with little or no previous experience excited about computing.
The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC) is a worldwide online challenge run by University of Waterloo in Canada. It introduces computer science to students and is designed to get students with little or no previous experience excited about computing.
The BCC is a problem solving contest with a focus on computational and logical thinking. Questions are inspired by topics in computer science but only require comfort with concepts found in mathematics and computer science curriculum.
This year we had seven of our Computer Science IGCSE students, Louis Mignot, Wang Yu, Joshua Silverberg, Peter Novak, Kang Hyuk Kim, Martin Vrana and Arkadiy Deliev, participating in this contest. They have worked through the three different difficulty level challenges online within 45 minutes. We have certainly the highest ambitions and are eager to hear back from the university about the results that should be emailed the coming week.
Next year we would like to have some students from KS3 participating as well, since there is a challenge designed for their age group too.
