Monday night saw a first for BISB as we held an awards evening for the successful ABRSM students.  The ABRSM is the largest music exam board in the world and we were very pleased to have many successful candidates in our school over the full range of exams from Prep to Grade 8.

Some students who take instrumental lessons gained practical certification in Violin, Piano and Cello and students from across the school gained certification in Music Theory which is taught in school to year 7, 10, 11 and 12 in lessons and is an optional enrichment activity for other years.

It was a lovely evening punctuated by performances from students who had gained the highest mark of 'distinction' for their exams.  The practical certificates were presented by the peripatetic team who had worked hard preparing their students for the exams, Mrs. Barbara Barros, Miss Petra Adamover, Mrs. Vladimira Sertlova and Mr. Tommaso Manera.   The theory certificates from primary were presented by Mrs. Warmington and secondary by Mrs. Eastwood.  Mr. Stephen Dunn from Juilliard also congratulated the students and was able to open the evening with a fantastic trombone performance accompanied by Mrs. Hatinova.

We are very proud of all of our students and hope many more choose to take exams this year.  If you would like your child to be involved please speak to Miss Howarth.  They can also take exams if they have lessons outside of school.
