Year 7 German Christmas Lesson How lovely to have the students back in school! The corridors are buzzling, everywhere you can hear laugh and chit chat. In our last Year 7 German lesson we’ve tried to catch a bit of the Christmas spirit in our lesson by learning new things about Christmas and German Christmas vocabulary.

How lovely to have the students back in school! The corridors are buzzling, everywhere you can hear laugh and chit chat. In our last Year 7 German lesson we’ve tried to catch a bit of the Christmas spirit in our lesson by learning new things about Christmas and German Christmas vocabulary.

In a Learning Stations lesson students had the opportunity to try different activities around German and Christmas. Learning Stations involve a set of different tasks or activities that small groups of students rotate through. In this lesson students had the opportunity to create a Christmas card in German; learnt new German Christmas vocabulary in a game; learnt how to use a dictionary and produced a Christmas decoration.

Learning Stations is very popular in Primary but Secondary students need to move too! The huge advantage of this type of lesson is that everyone gets involved! In particular, students are truly engaged, they work collaboratively, topics are chunked into smaller parts and students move and play an active role in their own learning.
